My Reverie
03:57
|
|||
Oh, hush my soul, she’s painting daydreams
Yellows, reds and gold and lilac moonbeams
She speaks to me - so innocent and so carefree
How can it be? I close my eyes yet I can see
Her fantasies…..
Moments in time, uncomplicated
Just one fishing line - now I’m captivated
She fills my mind with memories long left behind
Is she some kind of mystic creature sent to find
My reverie????
Sweet minstrel queen - weave your magic webs tonight
Life in between the interludes of black and white
You let me see the colors of the setting sun
The cottonwood tree waiting for the rains to come
And set it free
You set me free…..

A Walk By The Seaside
03:08
|
|||
A WALK BY THE SEASIDE CAN TRULY INSPIRE
A CITY MID, WEARY, AND FILL IT WITH FIRE
WAVE KEEP ON ROLLIN THEN ROLLING AGAIN
BRINGING MEMORIES OF SAILORS AND BRAVE FISHERMEN.
LIKE CRUMBLING CARCASSES, ROTTING BOATS LIE
BETWEEN THE SEA AND THE SAND AND THE SALTY BLUE SKY
TO WATCH THEM AND WONDER WHAT STORIES THEY’D TLL
AND JUST FOR A MOMENT FALL UNDER THEIR SPELL.
CH: WHERE THE FOG IT COMES CREEPING AND SEAGULLS THEY WHEEL
ROUND AND AROUND JUST LIKE DANCING A REEL
DUCKING AND DIVING, THEY RISE - THEN THEY FALL……
BEFORE THE STEAM ENGINE AND THE COMING OF OIL
WHEN THE WIND WAS THEIR MASTER THE SAILORS WOULD TOIL
HIGH IN THE RIGGING, THE CROW’S NEST AND SAIL
THROUGH MOUNTAINOUS SEAS AND BATTERING GALE.
A RED SKY AT MORNING COULD FILL THEM WITH FRIGHT
A RED SKY AT SUNSET WOULD BE THEIR DELIGHT
UPON THE VAST OCEANS FOR MONTHS THEY WOULD ROAM
UNTIL LONGING OR LONELINESS CARRIED THEM HOME.
CH:
WE MAY SEE THEM AS HEROES, MEN WITHOUT FEAR
WE MAY SEE THEM AS LOVERS OF WINE, RUM AND BEER
BUT WHATEVER WE SEE WE MAY NOT SEE THEIR KIND
THESE MEN FROM AN AGE WE HAVE LONG LEFT BEHIND.
REPEAT VERSE 1.

Bones

Kathy was a waitress in a tavern by the sea
A little place called Bruno's in a town they call P.E.
The moment that I met her on a winter Saturday
I knew I'd be a better man if I took the time to say
"Hello, how are you doing? I hope you're doing fine.
Can I be your friend? Will you be mine?"
I soon began to realise what a special child she was
Different from others, more aware, I guess, because
She took the time to listen to what I was going through
She called me up, she took me places, made my grey skies blue
And 'though my heart was smitten by the beauty she made shine
She said, "I'll be your friend if you'll be mine"
I read her children's stories till she slept there on the floor
She took me out to see the waves come crashing to the shore
At night she'd sit and watch me playing my guitar
And say, "Hey, Dave, remember me - one day when you're a star!"
But I only used to smile between the rhythms and the rhymes
And say, "As long as I'm your friend, you can be mine"
Well, she and I have been apart for over thirty years
But the friendship we once kindled has burned strong through blood and tears
"Kathy, I don't know if I will see your face again
I'd like you just to realise you'll always be my friend
Where you go or what you're doing in these mixed up, crazy times
I'm glad that I'm your friend and that you're mine"

The Final Sunrise
03:21
|
|||
Fly, fly singing bird, flying way up high
I wonder where you’re going to and I wonder why?
Fly, fly singing bird, sing your lonely tune
I wonder will you stay a while but you’re gone too soon
Every day - the world becomes a little colder
Every day - I hear your desperate cry
Every day - I seem to be a whole lot older
As I wonder will this be our last goodbye?
Sail on, magic dolphin, midst the mighty seas
I wonder what you dream of, do you dream like me?
Sail on, magic dolphin, surfing waves of blue
I wonder if I surfed those waves could I be free like you?
Every day - we kill you off without a reason
Every day - mankind takes away
Every day and every hour of every season
I wonder what this game is that we play?
Fly, fly, butterfly, on wings like colored glass
I am happy just to see you on the breeze you flutter past
Fly, fly, butterfly, so beautiful to see
So fragile and so delicate, so wonderfully free
Every day - you fly to reach your destination
Every day - I just get in your way
Every day - I kill you in this mass destruction
Until your colors in my memory fade to grey…
Sail on, Mother Earth, with beauty rich and deep
I wonder if a final sunrise holds the secrets that you keep?
Sail on, Mother Earth, within this pitch black sky
I wonder just how long before our last goodbye….?

Angel On The Highway
03:39
|
|||
There’s an Angel on the Highway - but they told me Angel’s fly
On wings of gold in white robes shining - love, truth and wisdom in their eyes
There’s an Angel on the Highway - I don’t think he’ll fly away
He’s made of rusting steel and concrete - I think this Angel’s here to stay
One day, they say, we’ll find the answers
We’ll see what’s on the other side
Beyond believing that our walls and statues
Will ease our superstitious minds...
Some say that Angels will protect us - grant us peace and harmony
Lead us not into temptation - save us from humanity
There’s an Angel on the Highway - Standing bold against the sky
I doubt he’s ever seen God’s glory - perhaps we’ll get there if we try
Somehow we’ll get there if we try, I hope we get there

Find Her Heart A Home
06:12
|
|||
I don’t ever want to bring you down
And although I’d like to think that I will always be around
One day you will wake up and I’ll be gone
So, right or wrong, here’s my advice for you - a little song
Be serious, take it easy, give your best, don’t try too hard
Focus on the positive while reaching for the stars
Keep promises and show respect - aim for peace of mind
Through it all be true to you when life treats you unkind…..
Don’t be scared to love with all of your heart
Choose your close friends wisely, it’s here that loving starts
Refusing to be less than who you are
We are moulded by our struggles, we are shaped by failure’s scars
Whatever people tell you - always listen to your heart
The world is hard - be brave and strong enough to play your part
Never stop believing in the who you want to be
It’s only when you know yourself that you can clearly see….
Educate your mind and feed your soul
Reinforcing both sides of your life should be a goal
While rushing fast you’ll get from A to B
But, if you take it slow, you’ll get to see life’s treasures in between
Don’t give in to hate - it’s like a cancer in your heart
Never wake up angry, each day’s a brand new start
Welcome people’s differences you may not understand
Another girl’s beliefs might be the hope that helps her stand…
Now, constantly keep sight of all your dreams
You can lose them in the mundane everyday or so it seems
They will tell you that the truth can set you free
If you can but perceive truth in today’s reality
So, learn to take the hard, less travelled road to where you go
Trust yourself and persevere and you will surely grow
To be someone that others seek to emulate with pride
Life is short so seize the day and don’t just take the ride…..
This message from a father to his girl
As she matures to be a woman in this brave, new world
I’m guessing every dad feels what I feel
The day your baby leaves your side to face her life ordeal
There is nothing I can say will ease the heartache in your soul
For the last few years she’s been the one who’s somehow made you whole
Though you feel you might be losing her - she was never yours to own
It’s time to let her spread her wings and find her heart a home…..

Set Me Free
02:56
|
|||
Rain falls, Sky's grey
Wind calls, Blue day
I'm waiting for the sunlight - To shine on me
I know that when the time's right it will come and set me free
Trees wave, Clouds sigh
Bring Dave Blue sky
I'm waiting for the sunlight - To shine on me
I know that when the time's right it will come and set me free
Come and set me free
Rain falls, Sky's grey
Four Walls, I pray
I'm waiting for the sunlight - To shine on me
I know that when the time's right it will come and set me free
It will come and set me free
It will come, it will come and set me free…

It Gets Better
03:00
|
|||
TRY TO SHOW A LITTLE DIGNITY
A BIT OF TRUST, RESPECT AND HARMONY
ADD A DASH OF GRACE AND SOON YOU WILL SEE
THAT IT GETS BETTER, IT GETS BETTER.
BE YOURSELF A WHILE WITHOUT THE COVER
A LITTLE CARING FOR YOUR SISTER AND YOUR BROTHER
SOME JOY AND HAPPINESS WILL HELP YOU DISCOVER
IT GETS BETTER, IT GETS BETTER.
IT DOESN’T MATTER IF THE RAIN BEGINS TO FALL
CLOUDS COME OVER AND YOU’RE FEELING WEAK AND SMALL
THE LOAD’S SO HEAVY YOU CAN’T WALK YOU’VE GOT TO CRAWL
IT GETS BETTER, IT GETS BETTER.
TAKE THE TIME TO SAY, “I AM WHO I AM!”
LEARN A LESSON FROM THE BEGGING MAN
THEN THROW SOME LOVE INTO HIS BEGGING CAN
AND IT GETS BETTER, IT GETS BETTER.
TRY BE YOUNG AT HEART YOUR WHOLE LIFE THROUGH
LAUGHTER LIKE A CHILD’S WILL KEEP YOU FROM FEELING BLUE
A LITTLE PATIENCE AND BELIEVING IN WHAT YOU DO
CUZ, IT GETS BETTER, IT GETS BETTER.
IT DOESN’T MATTER ABOUT LIFE’S COMPLICATIONS
JUST MAKE THE BEST OF EVERY SITUATION
A LITTLE QUIET TIME FOR MEDITATION
IT GETS BETTER, IT GETS BETTER.
IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU FEEL YOU’RE AT THE END
LIFE’S AN ADVENTURE LYING ‘ROUND THE NEXT SMALL BEND
BRAND NEW BEGINNINGS COZ YOU’RE YOU AND YOU’VE GOT FRIENDS
IT GETS BETTER, IT GETS BETTER…
IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT THE PEOPLE SAY OR DO
CAUSE I’VE GOT ME, SWEET BABE, AND YOU’VE GOT YOU
A LITTLE CREDIT WHERE THE CREDIT IS DUE
IT GETS BETTER, IT GETS BETTER.

Winter Song
03:27
|
|||
When the greens turn to gold with the year's growing old
When the sun hides over far horizon
When the red, rusty leaves FLUTTER, FLY on the breeze
When the birds head south to a warmer season
Winter has come, with days cold and numb.
When the warmth of each day like a dream slips away
When the north wind brings an early twilight
When breezes that moan chill you right to the bone
When the landscape shines in the silver moonlight
Winter has come, with nights dark and long.
When the mist on the hill hides its face like the veil
Of a bride about to wed her lover
When the slow, stuttering song of the stream is long gone
When the trees stand bare and tall above her
Winter has come, like a tapestry spun
All cocooned in my room 'neath this wint'ry moon
Trapped within the frozen whiteness
How I wish I could fly like a bird in the sky
I would journey to the sun's sweet brightness
And closing my eyes, how I dream I can fly
Away.........
