Hazy days and crazy ways, my life ablaze in myriad maze
The sun and moon they sing in tune as I ride upon the month of June
Voices heard, the spoken word, the singing bird - it’s all absurd…
I feel the urge to write the dirge, my pen aflow with power surge
To write of light of the evil fight, my mental kite flies out of sight
Into the blue, beyond the true - the me and you and what we do…
Paper thin, like the point of a pin, I try to win this fight within
But, somehow lost I pay the cost - I am tossed upon the morning frost
’Til falling down and spinning ‘round, I hit the ground without a sound…
Winds of change blow ever harder - Is this real? What do I feel?
What are these foolish thoughts I steal?
I feel naked in their laughter - Alone I stand, my outstretched hands
My plea demands
Behold this land….behold this man…
The day draws nigh with a heavy sigh, the silence cries its alibi
Until it’s come well time moves on to find that place where we’re all one
But then I fall, I try to crawl beyond that tall foreboding wall…
As I yearn new things to learn, I see my world around me burn
I hear cries I smoke-filled skies, the teargas flies, I close my eyes
Will it cease? Can it cease? I need real peace, sweet release…
Doubts, suspicions casting shadow - My thoughts sublime like pantomimes
Sweet nursery rhymes of all my crimes
Dreams like restless spirits billow - Will dust-to-dust kill wanderlust?
Or will I never learn to trust?
To share the crust?

The Golden sun is setting, goodbye another day
A scented breezes is blowing and the trees all gently sway
The cooing of the turtle dove, the songbirds’ busy tune
The sky turns mauve and purple round a bright, new, white full moon
White full moon, Birds’ tune
But it’s gone too soon….
My eyes are filled with pleasure, my mind is filled with awe
The smells of spring and summer are just too much to ignore
So I let the moment take me, move my heart to flight
As the darkness swallows up my world and takes away the light
All of the light, All of my sight
But the pale moonlight…
Tomorrow seems so far away, today might not have been
As the sun sinks low behind the trees, I am somewhere in between
I wonder where I am going to, I ponder where I have been
Then I think of how it all fits in to this picture perfect scene

POLITICIANS BICKERING ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN’T DO
STAND SILENCED BY THE BRIBES THAT THEY ESCHEW.
WE’RE LIVING IN THIS CENTURY NOT IN SOME MIDDLE AGE
GUNS CAN’T BE THE ANSWER WHEN WE ARE ALL SO FILLED WITH RAGE
PEOPLE DYING ON THE ROADS, IN SUPERMARKETS TOO
LAUGHABLE, IF IT WEREN’T SO DAMN TRUE
ARE WE INNOCENT BYSTANDERS CAUGHT IN A WILD CROSSFIRE?
OR IS THIS A LIFE TO WHICH WE ALL ASPIRE?
IF I COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE HERE AND NOT JUST TURN AWAY
OR WRITE SOME WORDS TO SING THAT MIGHT MAKE PEOPLE FEEL OKAY
I REALIZE WE CANNOT PLEASE ALL PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME
BUT WE DON’T HAVE TO BE CRUEL JUST TO BE KIND
IMAGINE SLEEPING PEACEFUL NEVER HEARING SOMEONE SAY
SEVENTEEN YOUNG KIDS DIED IN SCHOOL TODAY.
